How It All Started.....

Hi! My name is Kristin Gibson, owner & operator of Fiddlestix Kids Learning.   I opened FIDDLESTIX KIDS LEARNING in 2013 with the hope of serving preschool and elementary age children in and around the Charlotte area.  I am a former Preschool Director and Lead Teacher with over 17 years experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. I have a BA from The University of NC at Wilmington and I am certified by the NC Institute of Child Development Professionals as a Level 10 Early Childhood Educator.  In addition, I have achieved the highest director rating awarded on the NC Star Rating Scales (a Level 3). Most importantly, I am a mother of two, who has a knack & love for ENGAGING, EDUCATING, & ENTERTAINING children and the teachers who serve them!  I am proud to say that since 2013  our client base has grown solely based on word of mouth recommendations and now includes preschools, NC Pre K programs, churches, summer camp programs, after-schools programs and libraries!     I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to  work in a field that I feel is profoundly important: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION!

Many people ask me how I came up with the name "Fiddlestix" Kids Learning.  Thankfully my parents valued family and I grew up very close to my grandparents & aunts/uncles.  Most Sundays were spent playing with my cousins on my grandparents' farm.  Those Sundays were the best....they were filled with fellowship, food, laughter and LOVE.    During those visits, I learned a lot about the importance of family, the value of hard work, of trying your best and of not giving up.   My grandfather, "PaPa", never accepted any of us saying we couldn't do something and his response to "I can't..." was always "Ah Fiddlestix!" I can still hear his voice and see his smile as he would say it, encouraging us with his belief, his confidence that we could do it!   So naming my business Fiddlestix Kids Learning is a tribute to that time in my life.....to a childhood full of good memories, to the people that made it so special, to the lessons I learned and to the hope that Fiddlestix Kids will be a source of happy memories that build self-esteem and self-confidence for all the children and teachers we have the privilege of serving!
