ROCK-IT SCIENCE brings SCIENCE to LIFE through AGE APPROPRIATE activities that are designed to engage, educate and entertain budding scientists! These activities foster scientific thinking, develop problem solving skills, introduce simple scientific concepts/skills/vocabulary, reinforce mathematical skills & encourage children to ask questions and seek answers as they explore the world around them.
This class explores the "magic"of magnets and goes BEYOND simply discovering what materials are attracted to magnets. Do magnets work in water, through skin, paper and wood? Are some magnets stronger than others? Can magnets make objects "float" in air? Children will discover the answers to these questions and more as they explore the best and most unique assortment of magnetic toys available!
ROLLING, ROLLING, ROLLING........Learn about physics as we experiment with objects that roll & slide! Do objects that roll/slide have anything in common? Can some objects roll AND slide? How does the height of the ramp affect how fast & how far objects roll/slide? How do ramps help us in everyday life? This class is a HUGE hit with all ages!
Discover how the distribution of weight affects whether an object remains upright, steady and balanced! Children will be challenged to balance different items as they build both vertically & horizontally. Children will experiment with scales to determine how many of one object it takes to balance another. Finally, children will test their own balance as they navigate a balancing obstacle course!
STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering & Math all in ONE educational & fun class! Children will show off their creativity as they face a variety of design-build challenges! Unique building materials allow children to configure vehicles, animals, pyramids & more! Our little engineers will experiment with their designs to make them stronger, bigger, taller, and more stable!
What makes a bird a bird? Discover all the unique features of our feathered friends and identify different types of birds! What do birds like to eat? Do all birds lay eggs, build nests and fly? We will answer these questions and more as we investigate real bird nests, build our own bird nests, identify & sort eggs, and fill our bird feeders.
BUZZZZZZZ......Learn about the important role bees play in the growth of our flower gardens and crops. We will be as busy as bees when we plant a garden for the bees, return the bees to the beehive, transfer nectar from flowers and collect honey from the hive! We will also explore a REAL bee hive (abandoned of course)!
Caution: Children at WORK! Identify construction vehicles and learn what they do. Have fun moving rocks in the quarry, constructing a house, building a road, designing 3D structures & of course, DIGGING, DIGGING, DIGGING!

Hear ye, Hear ye.....calling all knights & princesses! Work on your narrative & imaginative skills as you identify your favorite fairy tale characters & return them to their royal kingdom, build castles with "magic" sand, go on a dragon hunt & experience Elsa's FROZEN SNOW SLIME! It's a fairy tale adventure from start to finish!
Shiver me timbers! Put on your pirate hat and set sail for a fun filled adventure as we search for buried treasure, rescue pirates, identify sharks, and explore the properties of golden slime. Identify, sort and learn about rare gems and where they are found.
It's a sandy & salty sea adventure as children learn about all the amazingly unique animals living under the sea. Find, identify & sort ocean animals, dig for seashells, build sandcastles and make sandy impressions.
What floats your boat?!? Explore items that sink/float, test the buoyancy of different materials, identify different types of boats & how they are powered, visit the boatyard and load cargo! .
Who doesn't like ICE CREAM? Learn how to make ice cream. What ingredients do you need? How do you get them to turn into one of your favorite frozen treats? Visit the ice cream shop for a series of hands-on "cold" sensory experiences!
Which animals make good pets? Pretend to be a Vet while learning what our pets need to stay happy, safe & healthy! Identify different dog breeds, build a doghouse, dig for doggy bones, and more! Your little animal lovers will be talking about this class for weeks to come!
Did you know that polar bears and penguins have never met? Learn about Arctic verses Antarctic animals while experiencing cool sensory materials. Explore snow slime, make animal tracks in snow-dough, build an igloo, go ice fishing and rescue the polar animals.
What is a desert? How hot is it in the desert? What unique plants & animals call the desert home? How do these animals survive the long, hot days and cold nights? We will answer these questions as we create our own desert habitats!
Nothing is more fun than getting your hands a little messy! Children will use their sense of touch to explore many different materials and compare how they feel. These sensory experiences provide wonderful opportunities for children to work on their eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills as they measure, scoop, pour, sift, sort, cut, roll, etc.! There are several themed sensory class options.
Going on a snake hunt, gonna catch a big one, we're not SCARED! Learn about venomous verse non-venomous snakes. Design your own snake while learning how to recognize certain snakes by their skin patterns. Identify and sort different types of snakes. Discover the answers to questions like: Do all snakes lay eggs? Are snakes helpful? Where do snakes go in the winter?
ALL ABOARD! WHEELS UP! CHUGGA-CHUGGA, ZOOM, ZOOM! BEEP BEEP! Learn about the many different modes of transportation, how they are powered and what they are primarily used for. Experiment with several different building sets to design & create cars, trains, planes and boats! Use your imagination to create new forms of transportation!
Children are always told "Don't Mix the Colors" but in this hands on learning experience, children are ENCOURAGED to mix and discover all the colors of the rainbow! What are the primary colors? Secondary colors? What colors combine to make brown and black? How do we make different shades of the same color?
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.....BLAST OFF! Learn about the planets, stars & phases of the moon. Identify & sort planets, make constellations glow and explore galaxy dough! Little astronauts won't want to return to earth after this fun filled class.
Learn about all the creepy crawlers hiding in your backyard as you experience LIVE earthworms, embark on a bug hunt and dig in the worm sensory bin! Learn how earthworms help our gardens grow and observe/test whether earthworms have teeth? eyes? ears? a mouth? a nose? See a replica of the longest earthworm ever found....you won't believe your eyes!
What can you find hiding among the lilly pads & cattails....frogs, alligators, turtles, snakes, ducks? Can you catch a fish? How does a tadpole turn into a frog? Why do ducks fly in a V shape? Children will discover the answers to these questions and more on this wet & wild nature hunt.
How do we stay warm in the winter? What about our animal friends? Learn how animals survive the cold winters by hibernating, migrating or adapting. Help the squirrels build a warm nest and gather nuts for the winter, design shelters for the forest animals, and explore animal tracks in the snow. Learn what we can do to help the animals that don't migrate/hibernate for winter!
Children will explore the wonderful world of dinosaurs as they design a dinosaur habitat, venture out on a dinosaur egg hunt, dig for dinosaur bones and make dinosaur fossil impressions. Children will discover and identify the wide variety of meat eating and plant eating dinosaurs that once roamed the earth. Children will learn about and pretend to be paleontologists as they work to "excavate" fossils.
Chickens aren't the only ones......that lay eggs! Learn all about oviparous animals! Who lays the biggest egg, the smallest? Do all oviparous animals build nests for their eggs? Which animals stick around to protect their eggs? Sort different types/sizes of eggs, identify animals that hatch out of eggs and match/repair the broken eggs! It's an egg-cellent adventure!
Every child loves finding seashells. Discover what shells are made of. Do shells grow? Learn about animals that call a shell, "HOME SWEET HOME!" Help the baby sea turtles find their way to the ocean, search for hermit crabs hiding in the sand and discover what's growing inside the oyster shells.

MOO, BAA, NEIGH, OINK, COCK-A-DOODLE-DO......Get ready for a hard day's work on the farm as we fill the silos, gather the eggs, feed the farm animals and shovel the hay. Along the way we will learn which animals live on the farm, the sounds they make, what item(s) each animal provides (eggs, bacon, wool, etc.) and much more!
Oh no! Our garden is overflowing but our flower shop is empty! Learn what is required to plant and maintain a garden. Sort flowers by color and type. Make your own flower arrangements and explore the seed sensory bin. Are all seeds the same size? shape? Where do we find seeds? Which fruits have the biggest/smallest seeds?
Take your WATER DAY to a whole new level! Children will experiment with the properties of water, how water flows, density and absorption as they explore our special STEM designed water walls, spiraling water tables/falls, log flume, water wheels, tubes, pipes, funnels and more. It’s a wet & wild learning experience from start to finish. Bathing suits & towels are a must.
This class is simply the coolest! Under black light children will witness the glow of fluorescent materials and will answer the question: Does it glow? Yes or No? Children will investigate whether objects that glow have anything in common and determine which colors glow best! Children will rotate through a series of glowing sensory experiences!
Step back in time to the First Thanksgiving! Who were the Pilgrims and why did they invite the Native Americans to the first Thanksgiving dinner? Learn how the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims survive the long, cold winter. Pretend to cook over the campfire, explore a life-size teepee, jump in the canoes, and more!
Let's explore light! Does light pass through all objects? Compare how light acts on objects that are translucent, transparent and opaque. Are all shadows black? Can you make a shadow move? change size? What types of materials reflect light? Do they have anything in common? Can you direct how the light is reflected? Children will discover the answers to these questions as they rotate through a series of hands-on learning stations!

Show off your creativity and engineering skills as you rotate through a series of design-build challenges! Can you build a tall tower....on water, a spiraling roller coaster, a pyramid, a boat that floats, a car? You will explore many different scientific principles including balance, gravity, force, acceleration, etc. It's STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering & Math all in ONE educational & fun class!
This class allows children to explore many different scientific concepts all in one FUN class! Visit the slime lab, engineering lab, magnet lab, water lab, and more. This class keeps kids moving and grooving as they are challenged to think like scientists. Children will create their own special SLIME to take home!
This fast paced class is based on the hit show MINUTE TO WIN IT! Children will race against the clock as they work to complete many fun (and sometimes SILLY) challenges that will require them to problem solve, work together and find the quickest solution! While having fun, children will experiment with gravity, balance, stability and force. Get ready for lots of laughs and good old fashioned fun!
Is it art? Is it science? In this class, it's BOTH! Experiment with fizzy baking soda paint, homemade puffy paint, salt art, symmetrical art and blank space art. Work on your color mixing and shading skills while making several pieces of artwork to take home! Picasso and Einstein would be proud!
Cool off on a hot day with this wet and wacky class. It's all about teamwork as children work in groups to complete fun water relays. Children will also experiment with how water moves on our one of a kind water wall and attempt to make gigantic, floating bubbles. Swimsuits, water shoes, and towels required!

WARNING: This class WILL get a little messy! Examine different sensory materials, compare how they feel and learn what's used to make them. Explore how mixing different amounts of the same ingredients affects the outcome of sensory materials? Have fun mixing your own unique sensory materials and practice using only your sense of touch to identify different objects. It's an ooey, gooey experience from start to finish!
Each Rock-It Science class is specifically tailored to suit the client we are visiting. Therefore, the activities conducted and depth of material presented may vary from the class descriptions above. Considerations include: the age, number and skill level of the children, the duration of the class, the size of the set up space and the materials available at the time of the class. We are constantly adding NEW MATERIALS and NEW ACTIVITIES to our classes!
